On the off hand chance that there are those who are keeping an eye on my Morrowind journals, I decided it was time to post an update and recap of sorts regarding my current TES fanfic endeavors.
To recap; about a year ago I had to stop working on the extended version of my fanfic because it was time for my husband and I to pack up our belongings and move out of our old house. For the next few months I was offline while we lived in our RV and went looking for a new house in the mountains of Montana. In July we found that house and moved in at the beginning of August. About a week ago we finally got the last of the boxes unpacked and figured out where to put everything in the new house.
So what about the extended fic? Well, here's what's going on with that. I realized recently that I've been away from my current Morrowind game too long to really get back into where Aeronwen was when I left off. I'm feeling more inclined to load the save that I made right after character creation and start over.
Regarding the extended version of the fic; I've decided to move it to its own account so it has its own space for screenshots (rather than trying to squeeze all of the screens for both the original and extended versions into the
lady_morningstar account).
The extended version will be posted into this account:
aeronwen . And I think I want to try a slightly different writing style. In the original version of the fic, Aeronwen is narrating the story centuries after the events have taken place. She's not feeling any immediate pain or fear when she talks about her ordeals because everything took place a long time ago. She's become a centuries old jaded demi-god at the time she's telling her story.
For the extended version in the
aeronwen journal, I want to try an "immediate writing" style. What I mean is, Aeronwen is writing the entries within hours of events taking place, so she doesn't know what is going to happen the following day. She has no idea how things will play out. It could be challenging to write for a character who doesn't know if she's going to live to see tomorrow, but that's part of the fun of fanfic writing.
I'm practicing this more immediate style of writing in her great grandmother's blog:
glorawen. I don't know how long I'm going to keep that one going. Already I'm finding it's much more difficult to write a fic about a multiplayer game than it is with a game like Morrowind where I have 100% control over what time of day it is, the weather, where creatures and NPCs spawn, etc. Not to mention that in ESO there are times when I have to sit patiently and wait for other players to get out of the scene that I want to take a screenshot of.
So that's what's going on regarding my TES writings. I'm curious to see how both projects eventually go. It will be slow going since I still don't have as much free time as I used to, but I'm too fond of the Elder Scrolls universe and the characters who exist there to give up writing about them entirely.
